Ushi is a month old today. Look at how she looks now. She is sniffing her sibling and she knows how to walk with her little feet already. Jason said that she turned a month on June 16, 2009 since it's the fourth Tuesday since her birth. Well, I did not argue with him anymore. A month for me consists of 31 days and not 28 days as he believes it to be. For as long as my Ushi is healthy, I don't care if she's 28 days old or 31 days old.
We cannot deny the fact that the scandal that circulated in all forms of media last month has stirred the lives of many Filipinos from all walks of life. Be it a farmer, a vendor, a saleslady, a banker, government and private employees, bystanders and many more know all about the Hayden Kho - Katrina Halili scandal.

It ensued the senate investigation, where one of the spectators poured a bottle of mineral water over Hayden's head. It also stirred the women sector especially the Gabriela who showed support for Katrina.

In the middle of this chaos, the ingenuity of the Filipinos surfaced again. They found a way to make this situation rather humorous. Listed below are the proof of Filipinos' creative mind in the midst of the havoc. Up to now, it is still circulating in all mobile phones. Admit it or not but you have received some or all of these jokes and maybe you laughed at them, too.

Dr. Kho, naospital?
Showbiz Reporter : Dok, bakit na confine si Hayden? dahil ba binuhusan siya ng tubig ni Abner Afuang during senate investigation?
Doktor : No, no, no..that's not. Just a minor infection, kasi marami siyang nakain na pubic hair galing kay Ms. Halili.

Tanong : Ano ang shampoo ni Katrina Halili?
Sagot : Siyempre ang world's no. 1 anti-dandruff shampoo, Hayden shoulders!

Lesson from the circulating scandal today:
Pag kayo ay na KATRI-NA,
make sure walang HAYDEN camera!

The first victim of swine flu in the Philippines is Miss Katrina Halili. According to her, "Binaboy ako!" in English, "I was swined!"

If we Filipinos can be very creative when it comes to this subject, it will be very much appreciated if we can use this creativity in something more useful especially with our present economic status and for the benefit of all our countrymen. Let us help in our own little way to improve the country's condition.

I came across an article in Reader's Digest April 2006 issue entitled Buff Your Shoes with a Banana written by Andy Simmons. The title caught my attention that I read it. It has some useful tips on house cleaning. I found some of them absurd and crazy but hey, they're quite effective when I tried them. I can't help myself but share it here. I picked some of my favorites and here they are:

  1. Use distilled white vinegar for stained carpets at home.
  2. Mayonnaise is a good hair conditioner.
  3. To remove the stale odor of old books, simply put them inside the freezer.
  4. A dab of shortening can be used as make-up remover.
  5. If a bubblegum stuck in your hair, a small amount of peanut butter will do the job. Just rub it on you hair until the gum comes out.
  6. A splash of vinegar under your arm gets rid of the dreaded body odor.
  7. Butter can be used as shaving cream. Just slather it on you wet skin to shave smoothly.
  8. A mixture of water and crushed aspirin can be used to dry pimples. Just apply the paste to the pimple, wash it off after a few minutes. It will reduce the redness and relieve the pain.
  9. A mixture of lemon juice and baking soda can soften dry, scaly elbows.
  10. Rubbing a few coffee beans together can removed odors from the hand, because it releases oil from the beans that absorbs the smell.
And you know there's this interesting one that I don't know if I am going to try. It's buffing your shoes with a banana peel. Are you interested to try it?

This is my baby. She was born on May 19, 2009 together with four other puppies. Her mother is Daisy, one of Jason's dogs. She is a white cute puppy with black spots like that of a cow.

At first we named her Ginger but Jason decided to change her name. So after minutes of discussion and choosing from a myriad of cute names, we finally decided on a new name that perfectly suits her.

Jason named her USHI. He said it's a Japanese word for cow. Now my little baby has a new name. Ushi is my cute little cow. =)
